Mentors

What is the purpose of the Mentors database?

The Mentor database allows for the community to be involved with the Career Center and Students. Most universities use the Mentors database to give their alumni a chance to connect with currently enrolled Students.

How do Mentors create an account in my CSO System?

Mentors have their own login page where they can self-register and come in to your pending bin for approval. The Mentor login page is: www.myinterfase.com/YOURSITEID/Mentor

Does the system track when a Student Contacts a Mentor?

The system will only track when a Student Contacts a Mentor if the Mentor has “Anonymous” selected as their contact method. With the anonymous contact method, the Mentor’s personal information will not be available to the Student and therefore the Student will be forced to contact the Mentor through the system. If the Mentor did not select the Anonymous contact method, the Student would be able to view the Mentor’s contact information and email the Mentor outside of the system. Take note that the system will only track the first time the Student Contacts a particular Mentor, and not every single time a Student Contacts just one Mentor.

Can I see how many times a Student has contacted Mentors?

Yes, the system will track the number of times a Student has contacted Mentors through the system. This information is housed in the Student’s activity, under the Mentor Contacts tab. Keep in mind that the system will only track the first contact a Student has had with each individual Mentor and cannot track if a Student emailed the Mentor outside of the system. There is also a Student-Mentor report that can generate this same data.

Can I limit the number of times a Mentor is contacted by Students?

Yes, there is a field in the Mentor profile called “Maximum Student Contacts per Month” which determines how many times the Mentor can be contacted within a month. If you’d like, it is possible to set a default number for this field in Tools>Setup>Settings.

Can I limit the number of times Students Contacts Mentors?

Yes, you are able to limit how many times Students contact Mentors each month. To see or edit this setting, head to Tools>Setup>Settings and locate the “Student – Mentors – Monthly Mentor Contacts” setting. This setting is system wide and will apply the same limit for all Students; however, in each Student’s profile you are able to specify additional monthly Mentor Contacts if you need to need to grant a Student more for a particular month. To give a Student additional Mentor Contacts, edit the “Additional Mentor Contacts” field in the Control Information section of the Student’s profile.

Can Mentors register for events?

No, Mentors do not have the ability to register for events. They do, however, have the ability to view events and who is attending.
