Yes, just as with Students, you are able to create observation notes for Employers and Contacts. To create an observation note for an Employer Contact, start by viewing the Contact’s profile and then click on View Activity link under the Page Functions menu to the Left Hand Navigation area. Click on the Observations tab and then click on [Add New Observation]. Now you can add your notes!
Yes, you are able to log notes in your system through records we call observation notes. Observation notes are designed to be an internal note system exclusively for Administrators. Only Administrators are able to view and create observation notes. To create an observation note for a user (i.e. Student, Employer, Contact, Mentor, etc.) , open the user’s record and click on the “View Activity” link under the Page Functions menu in the Left Navigation area. Once here, click on the Observations tab and then click on [Add New Observation]. Now you can add your notes!

The observation status field does not have a set function and therefore is typically repurposed to refer to the type of observation note you are creating. Many schools will rename this field “Observation Note Type” and create a list of options that indicate why the observation note was created. For example, common Observations Note Types are “Resume Review” , “Career Counseling”, and “Assessment” to name just a few. The benefit to customizing the Observation Status field is that you now have a clear code list that can be used for easier data tracking and reporting.
