Why can’t an Employer see a Student in a resume book?

In the Student profile, there is a form which states “Allow Employer view of resume.” If this is set to No, then the Student will not appear in the resume book. Also, make sure the Student actually has an active resume uploaded!

Why isn’t a Student appearing in a resume book?

There are three criteria that must be met for a Student to appear in a resume book. First, the Student must have an active resume on file. Second, the Student must have the “Allow Employer viewing” setting in their profile set to YES. And Lastly, the Student must meet the criteria you’ve set for your resume book. For example, if you set your resume book to only show Seniors that are Communication majors, your Student must have Senior as their classification and Communication as their major. If you did not set any criteria for your resume book, the system will still only show Students that meet the first two criteria: 1) they have an active resume 2) their profiles are set to allow Employer viewing.

Can I permit only certain Employers to view resume books?

Yes! There are several ways to limit which Employers are able to view a resume book. Your first option is to limit your resume book according to Employers’ “Employer Category”. This setting is available in the Access drop down menu within your resume books setup page and will look to Employers’ profiles to see if an Employer’s Employer Category matches any of the Employer Categories you’ve set for your resume book. If you do not use Employer Category in the Employer profile or would prefer for an even more narrow audience to view your resume book, set the resume book’s access to “Private”. The “Private” access option only allows specific Employers you’ve added to a list to view your resume book. To add Employers to your list of allowed viewers, change the resume book’s access to Private and then search for your Employer in the “Employers Granted Book Access” section at the bottom of your page. After searching your Employer, click the “Grant Access” link to the right of the organization’s name.

One last option to consider is to limit which Employers are able to access the Resume Books menu when logged into your site. Rather than setting allowed viewers for each resume book you create, it is possible to simply hide the Resume Books menu from certain types of Employers. I tried to run a student search for my resume book, but it came up with no results!

It’s possible the criteria that was added in the search was too specific. Try broadening your criteria to generate more results!
