Interview with Matt: The CSO Research/MBA Focus Merger
Amidst the excitement there have been a lot of questions around our merger with MBA Focus. Earlier this month, we sat down with Matt to get his responses to the most commonly asked questions about the merger. Following is a summary of that interview:
What’s the plan?
That’s a big question!
During the remainder of 2015 we will be creating the roadmap for bringing MBA Focus and CSO together. This encompasses our new name, an analysis of our products and services, a review of our hosting environments, as well as standardization of our internal policies and procedures including IT support, HR and benefits.
In the short term, it’s business as usual for our clients and everyone in our Austin, Texas and Columbus, Ohio offices.
As we get into 2016, we will have a clearly defined roadmap for moving forward as one company offering our core products and services.
What’s going to change?
In the short term, we will be introducing some exciting new services to CSO and MBA Focus clients in addition to our existing array of software and services.
In the long-term, we are identifying the best way to connect and support all of the 1000+ campuses, 1.4 million students and 2000+ employers we serve. These upcoming enhancements to our shared technologies are central to our goal of becoming the undisputed leader in career services and recruiting technology and client support.
Our name will be changing soon, and our website, email addresses, logo, etc. will reflect this change.
What’s not going to change?
Our shared commitment to service, trust, leadership, technology, innovation and hard work won’t change. This commitment to our shared core values will continue to be central to all we do to serve you, your students and employers.
We will maintain our offices in Columbus, Ohio and Austin, Texas. (We just signed a new three-year lease for our Austin offices!)

The same teams are still in place, so continue to reach out via chat, email or phone to connect with us. Along the way, you’ll be meeting great new team members as well.
How is this going to work?
It’s going to work well!
We have great leadership and staff and we’re excited to move forward together to provide our clients with excellent software and support. Our goal is to make the transition as seamless as possible for our clients and team members.
How do you feel about the merger personally?
I feel great about it.
When I came to CSO over three years ago, I wanted to help grow the company and help it become more nimble in meeting the needs of career centers, students and employers. We’ve come a long way in three years, and the merger will allow us to accelerate our ability to meet those needs. It’s going to be fun!
What’s your new name?
I can’t tell you quite yet, but we’re looking forward to sharing it with you in an upcoming announcement!
